A team of materials scientists has created fully functional electronic circuits from biodegradable seaweed-based polymers. The components dissolve harmlessly in soil within 90 days after disposal. This breakthrough could dramatically reduce the growing problem of electronic waste, which currently exceeds 50 million tons per year globally.
